About me
I’m Caroline, a quilter and textile artist from Wetter
Born in 1976, lives in her white timber house in Wetter, Hesse, with family, garden, cats, lots of sewing machines and fabrics. Sews quilts that tell stories and loves showing how it’s done. I especially love designing quilts for special people. One-of-a-kind pieces that suit their personality and feel as if they had always belonged in their home.

The house
A timber house, painted white. It’s that simple.
Many years ago I named my brand after this house, and the name still fits today. My balcony is a wonderful place to hang quilts and photograph them in the sun. Many of the pictures on this site were taken right there.
I don’t like to tie myself to one topic. So here it’s about quilts, and just as much about my garden, canning and cats.

Preserving the old: old techniques, old knowledge, old memories and that feeling of calm and of having enough.
How I work
When I sew, I’m completely in my element
It hardly matters what it is: a technique, a gadget, a sewing notion. Understanding it, putting it to use and making something of it comes very easily to me. I repair the old black sewing machines that are sitting around everywhere, and I love new sewing machines, the big longarm included, but my favorite way to sew is by hand.
I started my blog in 2011. In my first ten years of sewing, I learned everything I need to sew the way I like. I’m interested in everything to do with hand sewing and the sewing machine, and most of all in free-form design.
I like to work with what’s already there. For my Halo I didn’t buy a single new fabric, and more than half of a quilt I worked on in 2026 is made of worn clothes: dress shirts, pajamas, jeans and blouses from our family.
Creating a beautifully imperfect life.
What I love
My little universe of fabric
I’d like to open up a world of needlework for you, full of fabrics, romance, design and fine fabrics like those from Liberty London. For yarn, embroidery floss and teddy bears, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Liberty fabrics and William Morris
I have simply fallen for this era. That’s why I love living with antiques.
Cornishware
China I can never get enough of. I especially love the color Willow green!
Spools of thread
There are sooo many wonderful threads! Different colors, weights and materials, waxed and unwaxed, and then all the brands like Aurifil, YLI or Gütermann. Every thread has its strengths and its uses.
Garden and canning
I grow a little food in my garden, and in summer I make jelly from the fruit that grows all around our house.
Fields and their stripes
I’m always fascinated by fields and the kinds of stripes they have. That will turn into a project one day.
Cat content
One of the cats is always somewhere around, and one even made it into the logo as a cuddly companion.
Artist statement
Why my quilts tell stories
My quilts tell stories. They consist of fabrics that tell stories.
In my artist statement I tell how I really started sewing patchwork as a single mom, why fabrics with a story mean so much to me and who looks over my shoulder while I sew.

Patchwork: Süchtig nach dem Stoff
An article by Dominic Heitz about my quilts, in German. It’s online at op-marburg.de, behind a paywall.
Who I learn from
A fangirl with needle and thread
Sarah Fielke says I’m her “German Superfan.” I met her at classes in Den Bosch in 2024 and 2025, and I have spent many, many hours sewing along to her videos and her voice. I took online classes with Heidi Parkes and could barely contain my excitement every time. And in the summer of 2022, I took a class with Andrea from Quiltmanufaktur.
I have been a member of Kunstfreunde Wetter, the local art association, since 2020. Since then my quilts have hung in exhibitions in Wetter and at the castle in Homberg (Ohm).
Of course I’m also a member of the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland e.V., the Rhein Modern Quilt Guild (Rhein MQG) and The Modern Quilt Guild.

The logo
My house, my cat and me
Liz from Stamptout drew the logo for me. Her enchanting drawings of people won me over straight away, and I commissioned her. The logo shows my house and me sewing by hand, and since there’s always a cat around somewhere at my place, you have to be able to see one here too. My love of plants, herbs and quilting lines shows in the outer part of the logo. I’ve had the logo for about six years.
Come and say hello
If you’d like to follow along every day, come over to Instagram. That’s where I share what I’m working on, almost every day.
